UNICA, Brazil's main ethanol group confirmed that former Minister of Agriculture Roberto Rodrigues will take the presidency of the governing board of the entity. The name of Rodrigues shall be ratified by the directors at annual and extraordinary general meeting called for May 20, at the association's headquarters, in São Paulo.
On confirmation, Rodrigues shall take office on May 27 to replace the president of Bunge Brazil, Pedro Parente, who is retiring. An agronomist, Rodrigues is the coordinator of the Agribusiness Center at the prestigious Getúlio Vargas Foundation, Ambassador for FAO, and member of the Superior Council of Agribusiness of the Federation of Industries of São Paulo (Fiesp).
The assembly further confirmed the permanence of Elizabeth Farina as the executive president of Unica. Rodrigues was Agriculture Minister from 2003 to 2006, and Farina chaired the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade), attached to the Ministry of Justice from 2004 to 2008.
