1. CESFAC – CONFEDERACION ESPANOLA DE FABRICANTES DE ALIMENTOS OMPUESTOS PARA ANIMALES
CESFAC is a professional sector organization with more than 30 years of experience, and has associated companies throughout Spain. Its principal function is to defend the interests of its members. At present, CESFAC has associated companies that produce feed (accounting for approximately 80% of the national compound feed production), machinery, and raw materials, for example. All these companies are represented by CESFAC in the Fedération Européene des Fabricants D´Aliments Composés (FEFAC), which includes organizations from thirteen countries. CESFAC’s main objective is to help its members as much as possible through information and technical advising services.
2. EUBIA – EUROPEAN BIOMASS INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION
EUBIA was established in 1996 as an international non-profit association in Brussels, Belgium. Its Members include biomass market forces, technology providers, and knowledge centres. EUBIA’s main objective is to support the European biomass industry at all levels, promoting the use of biomass as an energy source, developing innovative bio-energy concepts, and fostering international co-operation within the bio-energy field.
3. ATEKNEA-H – ATEKNEA SOLUTIONS HUNGARY LIMITED LIABILITY COMPANY
Ateknea Solutions brings together four research and innovation companies operating at a European level for over 15 years. The group will pool the expertise and know-how of more than 130 professionals working in Catalonia, Hungary, Malta and Poland. Our goal is to gain faster access to new sectors and markets, and to innovate within a cosmopolitan and technologically advanced context.
Our company aims to assist European SMEs in transforming their innovative ideas into marketable products and services crucial for their success. Ateknea offers tailor-made services for innovation, with expertise covering a wide range of engineering and scientific areas.
4. FC – FUNDACION CESFAC
FC was incorporated in 1999, originally supported by the SME Association CESFAC and five individual companies. Currently, 65 different organizations (2010) are full members of FC and contribute most of its funding, independently of CESFAC Association. The founding members were concerned by the public scare cause by the several food crisis of the late 90s (dioxins, mad cow disease, avian flu, etc.) This perception problem was created distortion in the feed and food marketing chain. They believed an independent organization that may help individual companies follow the path of excellence and continuous improvement. The field of activity of the members covers many feed and food industry sectors (breakfast cereal, additives, supplements, nutrition, flavourings, animal feed, minerals, vegetable oils, pig production, food industrial equipment, fish products, etc.)
5. OTEC – OLAJGEP-TEC INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE, REPAIR AND CONSTRUCTOR LTD
Since 2004, the privately owned OTEC has provided complex mechanical maintenance, repair and overhaul services to the oil and gas industry. In addition, there is permanent monitoring going on in order to be able to offer its unutilized capacities to those areas, where we have been performing maintenance activities of large machinery and project realizations on a year by year basis to the chemical industry. OTEC has several references from well-known European companies such as MOL Hungarian Oil and Gas Company; E.ON Hungaria whose shareholder is the Munich-based E.ON Energie AG, Europe's largest privately owned electricity supplier or BorsodChem.
6. BFC – BIOGAS FUEL CELL, SA
BFC is a private company set up in 2003 to provide technological and management services, and which structures and guides innovative solutions in biogas production and new applications, as well as greenhouse gas emission reduction projects. It continuously invests in the development of innovative technologies related to biogas production and new applications. At the moment, it is implementing a biogas research centre in Asturias, which will use its facilities to assess the production and different uses of biogas obtained by the area food industry by-products treatment. The ongoing company strategy is mainly focused on creating value through knowledge generation for its further development through new options that will allow a sustainable waste management, add value to biogas and, simultaneously, contribute to climate change.
7. AlgEn – AlgEn, CENTER ZA ALGNE TEHNOLOGIJE, d.o.o.
AlgEn is a start-up established to do development and system integration of algae technology based systems. The two initial projects are development of a generic photobioreactor control system and a pilot project of algae-bacterial wastewater treatment plant. Algen is an active participant in the European Algae Biomass Association. Main initial activity of AlgEn is development of photobioreactor control system as a product. An important activity in 2011 was also operation and monitoring of the pilot wastewater treatment plant under Cornet project Albaqua. Other activities include preliminary testing of the biogas digestates as an algae nutrient, design and planning of an combined algacultural and aquacultural plant, algaecidity tests for paint and varnishes, and similar.
8. UTECH – UMWELT-TECHNIK PIPE CLEANER, CONSTRUCTOR AND SERVICE PROVIDER LTD
Umwelt-Technik Kft. was established in 1990. The company was initially engaged in the mechanical cleaning and complex disinfection of potable water networks and the installation of new pipes. Currently the company offers spectrum of services, ranging from the inspection of pipelines to the renovation of pipelines, mechanical and electrical engineering design and prototyping. The professional solution is guaranteed by the high technical standards, the experience of the expert personnel.
9. CAG – CAGLAR DOGAL URUNLER YENILENEBILIR ENERJI GUBRE GIDA VE TARIM ITHALAT IHRACAT SANAYI TICARET LIMITED SIRKETI
The company produces and markets a range of biofertilizers that is developed from microalgae in Turkiye. Also, it targets to make investments in the near future for powder microalgae products that will be used for other purposes. Microalgae based products for agriculture, aquaculture, poultry feed, essential oil and pigment rich food supplements are the most important products at this moment. The company has a closed system for microalgae production, a bioreactor with a volume of 800 Liter. Bioreactor is equipped with air diffuser, pH control, heat exchanger, artificial light and mechanical mixers. UV water sterilization system is used for conditioning process water and 4 high speed mixing tanks are used for dissolving nutrients. As downstream equipment, sedimentation tanks and a 10 plate filter press are used. Further, the company installs and develops reactors for algae cultivation and develops continuously microalgae production methods.
10. CRAN – CRANFIELD UNIVERSITY
CRAN is one of Europe's largest centres for strategic and applied research, development, and design. The university enjoys a prestigious international reputation for work in the following sectors: advanced engineering and materials, aerospace and avionics, automotive technology, defense, energy and power generation, gas turbines, health and medicine, life sciences, manufacturing, motor sports, offshore and underwater technologies, and water. Current research includes three topics: (1) inorganic and organic coatings to modify surface morphology; (2) synthesis of nanostructure materials for various applications (i.e., nanoparticles for ink jet printing, mesoporous materials for energy storage, conductive core-shell structured elecodes for Li-ion batteries, and core-shell structured materials for multiferroic applications); and (3) transparent conducting oxides (i.e., ZnO, CuAlO2). CRAN as a whole has been involved with more than 100 EU (FP5-FP7) projects.
11. WU – WAGENINGEN UNIVERSITEIT
Wageningen University is one of the most important international universities with study programmes and research in the field of healthy food and the living environment. The group Bioprocess Engineering, involved in this project, focuses on production of biomass and specific biomass at high efficiencies and high volume. An integrated approach is used in which the production system (the bioreactor) is improved. The bioprocess is studied at different scales ranging from the complete bioreactor to the biochemistry inside the cells. Models are used as a tool to understand the complex behaviour of the biological system as such and of the interaction with the physical transport processes in a bioreactor, and ultimately to allow better design and operation of the bioreactor.There are 3 areas of expertise in their research: (1) bioreactor design, (2) cellular processes (3) modelling. Wageningen University has expertise in photobioreactor design at laboratory, pilot and demonstration scale. With our facility AlgaePARC we have outdoor testfacilities for photobioreactors.
12. BAYBIO – BAY ZOLTAN FOUNDATION FOR APPLIED RESEARCH
The Bay Zoltán Foundation for Applied Research was established to develop technologies and solve problems associated with industry. Research being conducted in the Foundation’s Institutes focus on material science applied research, or biotechnology applications of nanotechnology. The Institute for Biotechnology (BAYBIO) is primarily concerned with environmental biotechnology. Current projects include: biotic and abiotic reductive dehalogenatoin of chlorinated compounds, biotenzid research, microbiological enhanced oil recovery (MEOR), methane production from waste or heavy oils, bio-refinery research, and surveys of bacterial community changes using molecular biology techniques. BAYBIO has participated in numerous nationally funded projects over the past three years.
